Hey there! 👋

My name is Calvin Head and I'm a freelance graphic designer and hand-lettering artist based on the Mornington Peninsula, Australia.

Caligature™ is the name of my personal design brand, encompassing my portfolio of graphic design, typography and photography work. In addition to this, I also have a space for people to download my freebies and purchase products from my online store - more of my products are available to buy on Redbubble and Society6.

I mainly specialise in logotypes, custom lettering, brand identity and print design (flyers, posters, invitations, wedding stationery etc). Despite it being just a hobby on the side, photography is also an area that I'm highly interested in. If you'd like to hire me or if you have any enquiries, please shoot me an email at caligature@outlook.com!

Thanks, I look forward to hearing from/working with you soon!

BEHIND THE BRAND NAME

After two years of Calvinator Designs™, I felt it was time for a rebrand. The more I mentioned my old brand name, the more immature it sounded; it just wasn't the way I wanted to represent myself as an upcoming designer and typographer. I didn't want my followers and potential clients to think that I wasn't serious about my career. So that's when I considered revamping my personal brand to something more mature and professional. I wanted something that represented who I am and what I do, and eventually, 'Caligature' sprung to mind one night when I was staying up late to work on a custom lettering piece, and everything about the new name felt like it was the perfect choice.

The word 'Caligature' is the fusion of my name 'Calvin' and the typography term 'ligature', due to my huge passion for lettering and typography. I've always appreciated the beauty of ligatures and the art of connecting letters together, so I tried to incorporate that into my new logo design. I also wanted to discard the sharp, aggressive style that existed in my previous logo, and, instead, make the design more classy and aesthetically pleasing.
